Opening of Service BOSTON AND PROVIDENCE RAILROAD opened, Readville to East Junction.

8/1/1836
Opening of Service TAUNTON BRANCH RAILROAD opened Taunton to Mansfield. Made contract with Boston & Providence for

transportation of freight and passengers Mansfield to Boston.

Milestone Charles Peter Clark, who would one day become President of the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad Company and

the New York & New England, was born in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Acquisition SEEKONK BRANCH RAILROAD COMPANY deeded to BOSTON & PROVIDENCE RAILROAD CORPORATION.

8/9/1850
Incorporation WOONSOCKET UNION RAILROAD COMPANY Incorporated in Rhode Island with authority to construct a railroad

across the northwestern corner of the state of Rhode Island from the Massachusetts line near Woonsocket, to the Connecticut

line. (Company organized August 24 1850.)

Milestone Charles Sanger Mellen, who would become the 5th President of the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad Company,

was born at Lowell, Massachusetts.

NH RR 1st The first ever photograph of a Railroad collision, was taken by Mr L. Wright of Pawtucket, RI, who snapped it withing

minutes of the accident in which thirteen passengers were killed on on the Providence and Worcester Railroad at Valley
