Opening of Service THE NEW YORK AND NEW HAVEN RAILROAD opened, Williams’ Bridge, New York to Mill River Junction, New

Haven, Connecticut, about 62 miles, entering New York over the NEW YORK & HARLEM RAILROAD to its terminus at

Canal Street, the cars being hauled by horses from 42nd Street to Canal Street.

Milestone THE NEW YORK & NEW HAVEN RAILROAD made a contract with George L. Schuyler, operating the Bridgeport - New

York boats, to charge the same fare and pool receipts, the railroad’s percentage to be 65 and the boats’ 45.

RAILROAD land for a track from Mill River Junction to Grand Street, New Haven and trackage rights into the Chapel Street

Merger BOSTON & NEW YORK CENTRAL RAILROAD COMPANY organized by a consolidation of the MIDLAND

RAILROAD COMPANY, the NORFOLK COUNTY RAILROAD COMPANY, and the SOUTHBRIDGE &

BLACKSTONE RAILROAD COMPANY.
