Incorporation THE MERIDEN & CROMWELL RAILROAD COMPANY incorporated in Connecticut. Constructed a railroad from

Meriden to Cromwell about 10.5 miles. (Company organized January 23, 1883.)

Sale HOPKINTON RAILROAD COMPANY sold under foreclosure to George Draper.

Lease DANBURY & NORWALK RAILROAD leased to the HOUSATONIC RAILROAD COMPANY for 99 years.

7/29/1887
Acquisition SPRINGFIELD & NEW LONDON RAILROAD COMPANY deeded to NEW YORK & NEW ENGLAND RAILROAD

COMPANY.

Opening of Service MERIDEN, WATERBURY & CONNECTICUT RIVER RAILROAD COMPANY line opened Meriden to Dublin Street,

Waterbury. Connection with New York & New England Railroad at Waterbury built same year.

7/6/1889
Milestone George Henry Watrous, 2nd President of the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad Company, died in New Haven, CT

of apoplexy at age 60 and was buried in the Grove Street Cemetery.
