Incorporation BOSTON & PROVIDENCE RAILROAD CORPORATION incorporated in Massachusetts with authority to construct a

railroad from Boston to the former line between Massachusetts and Rhode Island which was at the east bank of the Seekouk

River near India Point, to connect with the property of the Boston and Providence Railroad and Transportation Company.

(Company organized July 11, 1831.) First portion of future "Shore Line" between New York and Boston and second

predecessor of the New Haven RR.

Incorporation NEW YORK, PROVIDENCE & BOSTON RAILROAD COMPANY incorporated in Rhode Island, with authority to

construct a railroad from Providence to the Connecticut state line at Westerly and branches to any part of the waters of

Narragansett Bay. (Company organized January 28, 1833.)

Incorporation THE MANCHESTER RAILROAD COMPANY incorporated in Connecticut, with authority to construct a railroad through

East Hartford and Manchester, the main object being to reach the quarries at Bolton. (Company never organized.)

Opening of Service BOSTON AND PROVIDENCE RAILROAD opened, Boston (Park Square) to Readville.

6/3/1835
Lease BOSTON & PROVIDENCE RAILROAD & TRANSPORTATION COMPANY leased its bridge and terminal to the

Boston & Providence Railroad Corporation.

6/4/1835
Incorporation Corporators of THE HARTFORD & NEW HAVEN RAILROAD COMPANY authorized by Connecticut to form THE

HARTFORD & SPRINGFIELD RAILROAD COMPANY, with authority to construct a railroad from Hartford to the

northerly line of Connecticut and thence to Springfield, provided Massachusetts anthority be obtained. (Company not

Incorporation THE FAIRFIELD COUNTY RAILROAD COMPANY incorporated in Connecticut. Charter revised in 1846 and again May

29, 1850 when the name was changed to THE DANBURY

& NORWALK RAILROAD COMPANY.

Incorporation HOUSATONIC RAILROAD COMPANY incorporated in Connecticut. Constructed a railroad from Bridgeport to the

Massachusetts state line above Canaan, connecting with the Berkshire

Railroad. (Company organized April 8, 1837.)

Incorporation NEW HAVEN & NORTHAMPTON COMPANY incorporated in Connecticut to build a canal from New Haven to

Merger NORWICH & WORCESTER RAILROAD COMPANY formed by consolidation of WORCESTER & NORWICH

RAILROAD COMPANY and BOSTON, NORWICH & NEW LONDON RAILROAD COMPANY.
