Incorporation GRANITE RAILWAY COMPANY incorporated in Massachusetts with authority to construct a railroad from the quarries at

West Quincy to the Neponset River. Oldest rail component of New Haven system.

Incorporation Boston Providence & Taunton Rail Road Corporation was chartered in Massachusetts on this date, and given five years in

which to complete its line. Before construction began this company was succeeded by two newly-chartered lines, the Boston

& Providence and the Boston & Taunton R.R. The latter was never built.

Incorporation PROPRIETORS OF THE NEW BEDFORD & FAIRHAVEN FERRY incorporated in Massachusetts with authority to

operate a ferry across the Acushuet River between New Bedford and Fairhaven.

Incorporation Proprietors of the New Bedford and Fairhaven Ferry formed.

Incorporation WORCESTER & NORWICH RAILROAD COMPANY Incorporated in Massachusetts. (Organized July 1, 1835.)

Incorporation NEW BEDFORD & TAUNTON RAILROAD CORPORATION incorporated in Massachusetts, being a change in name

from the OLD COLONY RAILROAD CORPORATION (No. 1).

Opening of Service NORWICH & WORCESTER RAILROAD, opened Worcester to Norwich.

3/1/1843
Lease New Jersey Railroad leases Liberty Street ferry slip to George L. Schuyler, future President of the New York & New Haven

Railroad, for one year for steamboat to points on Long Island Sound east of New Haven.

Incorporation PROVIDENCE & WORCESTER RAILROAD COMPANY (of Massachusetts) incorporated in Massachusetts.

Incorporation Fall River Branch RR Co. formed.

Incorporation FALL RIVER BRANCH RAILROAD COMPANY incorporated in Massachusetts, with authority to construci a railroad from

Fall River to the New Bedford and Taunton Railroad at Myricks or to the Taunton Railroad at Taunton.
