Incorporation RHODE ISLAND MINING RAILROAD COMPANY incorporated in Rhode Island with authority to construct a railroad

from the PROVIDENCE & WORCESTER RAILROAD at Valley Falls northerly to the Massachusetts state line. (Company

organized July 14, 1871.)

3/6/1866
Milestone Frederic C. Dumaine Sr., who would one day become President and Chairman of the New York, New Haven & Hartford

Railroad Company, was born in Hadley, Massachusetts.

3/13/1867
Incorporation DUXBURY & COHASSET RAILROAD COMPANY incorporated in Massachusetts with authority to build a railroad from

the SOUTH SHORE RAILROAD at Cohasset to Duxbury, 17.5 miles.

3/18/1867
Incorporation MANSFIELD & FRAMINGHAM RAILROAD COMPANY incorporated in Massachusetts, taking over the

FOXBOROUGH BRANCH RAILROAD COMPANY and being authorized also to construct a railroad from Walpole to the

AGRICULTURAL BRANCH RAILROAD at Framingham.

3/23/1870
Incorporation FRAMINGHAM & LOWELL RAILROAD COMPANY incorporated in Massachusetts, with authority to construct a railroad

from the BOSTON, CLINTON AND FITCHBURG RAILROAD in Framingham to Lowell.

3/1/1872
Lease HOUSATONIC RAILROAD COMPANY leased portion of THE NEW YORK, HOUSATONIC & NORTHERN

RAILROAD from Danbury to Brookfield Junction.

3/27/1872
Incorporation OLD COLONY RAILROAD COMPANY incorporated in Massachusetts. Authorized the OLD COLONY & NEWPORT

RAILWAY COMPANY and the CAPE COD RAILROAD COMPANY to unite under the new name.

3/4/1873
Merger STOUGHTON BRANCH RAILROAD COMPANY merged into THE BOSTON & PROVIDENCE RAILROAD

CORPORATION.

3/20/1873
Acquisition NEW BEDFORD & TAUNTON RAILROAD CORPORATION deeded to NEW BEDFORD RAILROAD COMPANY.

3/1/1876
Milestone Train ferry Maryland being rebuilt at the Atlantic Works in East Boston for New England Transfer Company; visited by

4,000 people before leaving for New York; New York & New England Railroad is to provide four trainsets of eight cars each

and run two round trips

Boston-Philadelphia via New Haven and Hartford in 12:00 starting Apr. 3; ferry trip is to take 1:30.

Joint Venture THE NEW YORK, NEW HAVEN & HARTFORD RAILROAD COMPANY and the BOSTON & NEW YORK AIR

LINE RAILROAD entered an agreement to pool earnings.
