Opening of Service Joint passenger terminal of THE NEW YORK, NEW HAVEN & HARTFORD RAILROAD and The NEW YORK &

HARLEM RAILROAD at 27th Street and Fourth Avenue, New York City, discontinued in favor of the FIRST GRAND

CENTRAL STATION at 42nd Street.

Opening of Service Agreement made between THE NEW YORK, NEW HAVEN & HARTFORD RAILROAD COMPANY, THE NEW YORK

CENTRAL & HUDSON RIVER RAILROAD COMPANY, and the NEW YORK & HARLEM RAILROAD covering joint

perpetual use of the Grand Central Terminal.

Opening of Service POUGHKEEPSIE AND EASTERN RAILROAD opened, Poughkeepsie to the state line of Connecticut via Boston Corners,

using 4.4 miles of the Dutchess & Columbia trackage from Stissing Junction to Pine Plains.

Opening of Service HARLEM RIVER & PORT CHESTER RAILROAD opened New Rochelle to Harlem River, 11.5 miles. (Operated by The

New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad from start.)

Opening of Service PROVIDENCE & WORCESTER RAILROAD opened, Valley Falls to East Providence.

11/19/1874
Incorporation FALL RIVER RAILROAD COMPANY (No. 2) incorporated in Massachusetts, with authority to construct a railroad from

Fall River to the line of The New Bedford Railroad at New Bedford.

Milestone New York & New England Railroad subsidiary New England Transfer Company, incorporated in Conn., purchases old

PW&B train ferry Maryland, which had been laid up at Annapolis since 1866 and sends it to East Boston to be rebuilt from

the deck up at the

Atlantic Works for a train service between the PRR and New Haven at New York; trip to take 1:30.

Bankruptcy State Treasurer took over WATERTOWN & WATERBURY RAILROAD for bondholders.

Opening of Service NEW HAVEN AND NORTHAMPTON RAILROAD opened from "Pine Tree”, across the Farmington River to New

Opening of Service CHATHAM RAILROAD opened Harwich to Chatham. (Operated by Old Colony Railroad under lease.) About 7.1 miles.

Lease RHODE ISLAND & MASSACHUSETTS RAILROAD COMPANY (both Massachusetts and Rhode Island) leased to NEW

YORK & NEW ENGLAND for 89 years.
