Despite its relatively small size, the New Haven was one of the most heavily passenger oriented railroads in the country. In fact, during the modern era, only the commuter heavy Long Island Railroad derived a greater proportion of revenue from passenger service. Over the years the New Haven published a huge variety of advertising folders to promote passenger travel. What follows are a small selection of typical New Haven Railroad travel folders. All items from the collection of Marc Frattasio.

This 1937 travel folder presents through train schedules operated between New England and points south via the Hell Gate Bridge Route over New York's East River. Many New Haven passenger trains proceeded south to Washington D.C. via connections with the Pennsylvania Railroad at New York's Penn Station. |
| This 1946 travel folder presents train schedules between Boston and various points in southeastern Massachusetts including Quincy, Braintree, Greenbush, West Hanover, Plymouth, Brockton, Middleboro, Woods Hole, and Hyannis. | ![]() |

This 1947 Pilgrim Tours folder not only presents travel itineraries to New York City but also to points south that were well outside of the New Haven's direct service territory. The high degree of coordination required between the New Haven and the many outside parties involved with the Pilgrim Tours necessitated a special dedicated office in New York's Grand Central Terminal called the Travel Bureau. |
| This 1954 travel folder presents discounted weekend excursion fares to Boston, Massachusetts from various points on the New Haven Railroad. The special discounted excursion fares were intended to help grow the New Haven's travel business during the weekends, when passenger trains often ran under-capacity. | ![]() |
