Tercentenary pamphlet XLV (1935). The first charter was granted by the General Assembly in 1832; the first actual operation occurred in 1837. Nice map of all rail routes established in the nineteenth century (there were no new routes established in the twentieth century), with the dates of their openings. Withington was an electrical engineer employed by the New York, New Haven and Hartford.
