HOW TO JOIN OR RENEW MEMEBERSHIP WITH THE NHRHTA

Membership in the NHRHTA has changed. Below list the new levels, their dues and what is included in each. This new process is powered by Patreon, a online service which allows the NHRHTA to provide additional benefits to becoming a member of the association. Basic Membership

  • Includes Shoreliner and Speedwitch, as always.

  • $40.00 paid annually by check or money order. ($50 for Canada, $75 foreign)

  • If you pay by credit card, it’s billed at $3.50/month ($6/month Canadian, $8/month foreign to cover additional shipping costs) and processed via Patreon, not at the Readville Shops store as in the past. See below for instructions.

Full Membership

  • Includes Shoreliner and Speedwitch, as always.

  • Also includes full access to the NHRHTA Online Archive.

  • Credit card payment only, billed at $5.00/month and processed via Patreon
    ($8/month Canadian, $10/month foreign to cover additional shipping costs).

Archive-Only Access

(for non-NHRHTA members, and for Lifetime and Honorary members that want to add Archive access)

  • Includes full access to the NHRHTA Online Archives ONLY.

  • Does not include Shoreliner or Speedwitch
    (ideal for Lifetime and Honorary Members that want to add Archive access, since they receive these already).

  • Credit card payment only, billed at $3.00/month and processed via Patreon.

WHY JOIN THE NHRHTA?

For over the past 60 years, the NHRHTA has dedicated itself to the accumulation, tabulation, and distribution of historical, educational, and technical data specifically related to the NewYork, New Haven & Hartford Railroad Company and its predecessors. We catalog and provide information on rolling stock, motive power, trackage, all types of structures, and general historical background material through its premier publications, products and various partnerships with other companies and associations.

By becoming a member of the NHRHTA, you will receive access to a wealth of information through our premier publications, the Shoreliner® & SpeedWitch® magazines, which are filled with articles, photos, diagrams, and first-hand accounts of well researched topics on the New Haven Railroad, its predecessors and the areas they served. In addition, the NHRHTA has recently launched its new Online Archives which will provide members with access to a growing selection of New Haven Railroad and NHRHTA-related documents, photographs, videos, and reference materials - anywhere and anytime.

The NHRHTA also sponsors an Annual Convention, typically on the Saturday after Labor Day and is held at a location that was served by the New Haven.

NHRHTA Membership Renewal Process via Patreon

  1. If you want to have access to the NHRHTA Online Archive:

    1. Go to https://www.patreon.com/cw/NHRHTA

    2. Click on the “Become a member” button.

      1. Scroll to “Full Membership - $5/month” and click the “Join” button (if you are a Canadian member or outside North America, scroll further for the proper level to cover additional shipping costs).

      2. If you are a Lifetime or Honorary member, scroll to “Archive-Only Access - $3/month” and click the “Join” button.

      3. You will be prompted for your payment and shipping information and will be billed monthly going forward. You will only have to do this once since renewal is automatic unless you cancel.

  2. If you do NOT want access to the NHRHTA Online Archive . . .

    1. . . . and you want to pay by credit card:

      1. Go to https://www.patreon.com/cw/NHRHTA

      2. Click on the “Become a member” button.

      3. Scroll to “Basic Membership - $3.50/month” and click the Join button.

      4. You will be prompted for your payment information and will be billed monthly going forward. You will only have to do this once since renewal is automatic unless you cancel.

PATREON PAYMENT PLATFORM EXPLAINED

Membership payments are handled through the Patreon internet platform, which is designed to connect people and support creators and organizations who are passionate about a given subject.

In order to pay for membership by credit card and to access the online archive, you will have to create a Patreon account first. Memberships are automatically billed monthly by the Patreon system, so our members do not need to remember to renew their membership or risk missing out on NHRHTA content or new additions to our archives. Annual billing will be offered as an option in the near future, so stay tuned for updates.

Members are also able to change or cancel their membership level at any time, as well as changing their address, all through the click of a button within the Patreon membership portal. There’s no risk to joining, so we hope you’ll try out a NHRHTA membership today!
